Tech Session - Friday, 12/22

Postby Loren » Tue Dec 19, 2017 2:53 pm

I've got some minor stuff to do on the Mirage. Mike Dassatti is bored and asked me to let him know if I was going to be playing in the garage this week. And the cool weather is nice.

So, I'm opening up the garage and driveway. If you've got any minor stuff to do, I've got space and tools and a little bit of old car guy wisdom. Can help with things like basic fluid changes, brake pads, maybe suspension. Probably nothing as big as a clutch job... But, maybe. Or, if you're inexperienced and just want someone to show you around under your car... Or if you just want to come hang out. Or whatever.

We haven't pinned down a time yet. And, it's possible that I may have to reschedule if I end up getting some driving students that day. But, as of now, the day is clear. Most likely be out there about 10am unless somebody comes up with an all-day project.

Anybody wanna come play with cars?

I'm in Safety Harbor, BTW. PM me if you need the address.

I might drag over my sisters jeep and do the water pump. Or maybe fix my parking brake. Either way I'm down.

Food has been arranged. I guess that makes this official!

Cathy's gonna bake us some kind of home made pizza roll thing. I'm sure it won't compare to Dan's pizza, but it'll be good.

Start time 10am. Lunch around 12:30-1:00. Wrap up... whenever.

So we're at, me, Mike, Dan and a couple maybes.

Somebody bring a cooler with ice and water. I've got some assorted sodas around.

Pizza rolls have become straight up pizza.

We might not accomplish much work, but, we shall eat.

Mike, Dan and Doug joined me in the garage today. I'm proud to say that we accomplished all of our goals for the day!

What were our goals? Mostly just to hang out in the garage and eat pizza. We crushed it. :thumbwink:

I did manage to shed 9 pounds of weight from my car. Removed the rear wiper (2 pounds) and the front swaybar (7 pounds). Roughly half a percent lighter... means half a percent faster. For the 20 minutes of time invested, I'll take it!

In that case, Loren's probably gained the 9 lbs he took off the car.

What started out as a really serious London fog like driving thru floating droplets turned into a beautiful day @ Loren's Garage. I learned a few more valuable things about cars, reality and electricity. Great idea factory. And great pizza as mentioned which I felt guilty eating as didn't do anything constructive - I think my wife stabbed me in the back last nite? How can one pull a back muscle sleeping? Mike lifted the car off the jack stand. Don't mess with Mike. Loren slices steel like pepperoni with an angle grinder...beware when he's armed. Dan is a good story teller. Thanks guys.

It was a pleasant day. Thanks for coming out and motivating me!

Sad when the easiest way to remove a swaybar is to cut it in half!
