Any chance of releasing the sound level information you have collected? I'm sure I'm not the only one that is a little curious how loud (or not) their car is.

Yours is one of the quietest.

So today I put the stock mufflers back on the #44 Mustang. From 10 yards DIRECTLY behind my car I am now 94.4 at wide open throttle. With that being said, I should be in the very low 90's/ high 80's in the trailer at the start line. So disappointed to let the Roush exhaust go... But it is what it is.

I bought a db meter to test my exhaust after switching back to stock. I will bring it Saturday if you would like to run your own tests.

Quick update for those who are interested. There were enough loud cars at the Feb 13 event that we went ahead and scanned all of them. Of 105 drivers at this event, only 10 cars were "loud", a few of those were right at the 95 limit, and only 3 were 98+.

The start on this course had a kink in it that had almost every car (other than the really slow ones) easing off of the throttle before getting over about 5,000 rpm off of the start. That means that many of the sound readings were LOWER than the peak that we'll see with a straighter start.

We've decided to note the "violators" in the event results so that we'll have a permanent record to refer to. If you want to know who was loud, just look for a db reading in parenthesis after their last name in the results.

Thanks to those we were loud and have already taken steps or are preparing to take steps to get their exhaust quieter! We really appreciate it.

Sort of surprising...there are some cars in there that never struck me as loud. Must have lost some nerve endings earlier in life....

At my previous job we were required to take a hearing test every year. One year I decided to ignore the beep until it was loud, later when I received the results it said my hearing was normal for my age. My ears have been ringing since I was a teenager and fired a 357 magnum snub nose without any protection.

I'm right there with you. Chronic tinnitus for somewhere near 30 years. From loud concerts, not wearing proper hearing protection around loud industrial equipment, and a backfire incident in a garage that blew up a muffler.

Tinnitus sucks.

We didn't stop anyone from running, but "repeat offenders" do run that risk. We did give several of you a heads-up, and emails will be sent out with polite requests to continue your efforts to quiet down your exhausts.

Oddly, some of you got louder compared to prior events, which may mean the start this time was a little more aggressive, or perhaps some experimentation / trial and error is going on. We do appreciate your trouble trying to quiet things down.

Good news, y'all!
We're raising the db limit, effective immediately. "Soft" limit will be 96, and "hard" limit will be 99.

Now, we do realize that "loud" is dependent on many variables, and courses, which is why we try to be as permissive as we can in enforcing our rule. Still, if you see your number listed, well, we're asking you to do something to reduce your car's sound level before you come to your next event. We'll be checking, and while we don't want to poop on the party, we do reserve the right to shut you down if your car is just too darned loud.

Ah makes sense. I never use the rev control when launching until today, which bounces me off 5.5k. I guess doing that causes my levels to go higher than previous events.
