Here it is.
The lot is about 400x300 with no good area for gridding cars. For reference, SPC is slightly larger and has additional space that we can use for gridding.
Not the best autocross site, but it could be made to work. Good location for "being seen" if we were in a position where we needed to attract more new members. But, we don't seem to be having trouble in that department.
I'd file it away on the list of "possible locations for future use". Or, at most, maybe try to schedule one event there each year just to keep the site "viable".
autocross at Seminole High school - worth a look?

Looks like it was about a 40 second course, which isn't to bad at all.
I just wonder how often they can hold this type of event per year at Seminole High School? I would imagine that the neighbors would get a bit annoyed with the noise if it was held to often. Just my 2¢.

More of a 30-second course with a 10-second hairpin.solar 90GT/03Si wrote:Looks like it was about a 40 second course, which isn't to bad at all.

I think you're right, too many events and the neighbors would complain... and being a public school, the neighbors would win.
This is a site where it would be wise to impose very subjective noise limits... stuff like that loud-ass 914 shouldn't be allowed to run at a site like that, not if anyone wants to do regular events there.

Thanks for going and posting the footage, Carl.
I'm with Loren - not worth looking into unless we're desperate. Looks like they had to use a good portion of the pad for the grid, and that didn't leave a lot of room for the actual course.
At least we know it exists and has been/can be done.

It's really hard to say, and I don't want to make solid assumptions based on a side-line video, but...phoenixracer wrote:Loren - you say the courses you guys set up are faster than that?
Yes, I think our SPC courses are a little bit faster and more importantly, normally don't slow down to the near stop required for that hairpin. On top of that, I'm not quite sure they had enough distance between cars and things like sign poles on the perimeter. (which may be why they had such a slow course)
But, it's hard to judget that sort of thing from that video. The size of the site on the map is more telling. It's just a small site. At SPC we've got about 600 feet on the back side that we can use for a "fast section"... with runoff, it's well over 400 feet. This site's longest dimension is 400 feet... so with runoff space, you can't use more than 250-275 feet of it as a straight or fast slalom section. (4 cone 60' slalom takes 240 feet!)
Would be usable if we had to, but not the ideal autocross site.
