I was against the fence, straight down from the trailer. So I would shoot the start right up into going into the straightaway.

OK so that's the first right on the course I'm going through. Makes sense thanks!

I need to check if the gopro recorded a complete run.

Sorry about my numbers being odd. I am cutting new numbers tonight and should be easier to read next time.

I have several hundred, 852 pictures to be exact from the Group 2 of the Late Session, if you'd like some pictures of your car shoot me a message and tell me what car, color and number you were and I will send them your way.
Did you buy any chance get pictures of number 712 white GTI from the 2nd run group in the morning session?

This is my fastest clean run of the day, 28.607...

Feedback is welcome, I can see that my angle was wrong on the sweeper going into the slalom as i had to ease off a little and turn in just that little bit more to get into the slalom. Plus the little slide/tire squeal right before the finish cost me a tenth or two at least.

It's still way too early in the season to draw any conclusions, but...

Season Points have been updated.

The event went like clockwork. Kudos to the volunteers.

Here is my best run. I felt that I left time out on the course all day as evidence shows with my driving of the sweeper and slalom. Horrible.

Love the foot cam! I see you do the left foot dance, too.

Thanks for giving me a challenge, Jake. Hope I can keep up for the rest of the season.

Watching all of these videos just drives home what I'd already figured out about this course. There were 7 distinct places that you could LOSE time on this course, and getting every one of them right was very difficult. (and I know I never did it!)

1. The first turn. It was sort of designed with the intention that one or both apex cones would be "false apexes", but staying tight on both of them ended up being the right line, and resisting the urge to try to accelerate after turning in for the first turn was critical to staying on line.
2. The switchback to the right. You had to time this right, do it VERY quickly, and get on the gas as soon as possible, but not too soon.
3. The kink at the beginning of the straight. Some of the more powerful cars may not have been able to, but I think most cars could get through this flat-out. And even the more powerful cars should have been able to accelerate smoothly through it without LIFTING. Getting on the gas early coming out of the switchback and NOT lifting here were critical to getting maximum speed in the straight.
4. The wiggle at the end of the straight and the entry to the sweeper was pretty hairy. I think you could get away with almost no braking to get around the wiggle, but if you did, you'd never make the entry to the sweeper! This is the turn that got me. I never once got it right.
5. Choosing a line through the sweeper and the entrance of the slalom. The second apex in the sweeper was false, and you wanted to take the first slalom to the right. But, there was a lot of room to choose a line through there. Ultimately, I think taking the sweeper so that you could "late apex" the right cone of the slalom entry gate and treat it as the first slalom cone was the fast way.
6. The slalom itself. This was the first thing I figured out. If you were behind in the slalom, as many people were, it was terrible! It just felt awful and nearly impossible to drive fast. But, if you stayed ahead of it (by actually starting your slalom a cone early and doing the classic "attack the back" method), and remembered to tap the brake at the 3rd cone, it was downright EASY to drive.
7. The final turn. The more speed you carried through the last 3 cones of the slalom, the more you had to think about this turn. And coming out of the slalom, you wanted to stay tight on the final apex cone... in fact, you could get on the gas earlier by loosening that last turn and allowing yourself to track out toward the wall of cones on the outside. It was a really tricky turn to drive fast and stay in control.

Such a simple course... but almost every turn was challenging in its own way.

Here is a video of my 6th and fastest run. It is 3 segments, 1 is the roll bar cam of run 6, 2 is the chin spoiler cam of run 6 and 3 is the chin cam of run 3.

My car is usually loose and that is what I have become accustomed to. However at TBD it really under steered. I tried adjusting the pressures and never got comfortable and it didn't improve my times much, the best 4 of my runs were really close in time. On the 3rd segment of the video you can hear some vibration, that is the front tires chattering. I think I am going to have to adjust my sway bar and camber to try and get a little more grip in front. The setup I have now works very well at Brookesville, but not so much at TBD. Also in the third segment is a nice cone punt.

List of excuses, my car is over weight, I am overweight, my tires are 3 years old, my tires have a 100+ heat cycles, my hands were sweaty, my hands had sun screen on them, I was thirsty, and on and on.

Pretty obvious watching this why Miatae on bigger rims were so much faster than pig iron on 8"ers:) Anytime Matt doesn't spin is a good run.

Got my videos processed. Somehow the first 24 seconds didn't stay deleted, so you can skip ahead slightly.

Thanks Doug, I am only on 15"x8" wheels with 225/45 tires. As far as any run where I don't spin being a good run I would ask you to look at my results this past year... They show otherwise. I guess they could be considered good fun, but not competitive good. ;-)

Loren you have a couple more minutes of seat time compared to me... I would hope you could beat me in a car with slightly narrower tires. Are those 205 Rivals?

And a few less horsepower... :thumbwink: But, you've got YOUTH on your side.

Idunno, they're whatever Ben put on the car. :headscratch: My only input was that he didn't need to spend the big bucks for 8" wide wheels and 225 tires and the associated fender-rolling. I think he did choose Rivals, though.
