Trailer problems

Postby WAFlowers » Thu May 10, 2007 8:26 pm

I guided Ryan to the trailer storage tonight only to discover that the trailer had been broken into. The hasp and padlock had been pried off, leaving the door with no way to remain closed.

Ryan used a tiedown strap to hold the door mostly shut for the trip home.

Ryan called a few minutes ago to say that the door had fallen off its hinges!

Also, the trailer was still parked outside on top of the anthill. There was a steady stream of ants crawling up the hitch wheel and along the frame. Expect the inside to be crawling with ants and bring antkiller to deal with them.

I didn't do a detailed inventory of the contents. Maybe Ryan can check for the radios. All the bulky items seem to be there.

OUch! Yellow_Colorz_PDT_29

*&(&# vandals!

It'll be an interesting event if the radios are missing.

Ryan - radios? Bullhorn? Any major stuff missing we have time to try to replace before Sunday...

Can someone bring a can of ant spray?

Is the door gonna be a huge issue - if need be can rent a trailer and transfer all the stuff...

Hey guys, Bill isn't kidding when he said that thing is HEAVY. I ended up cruising at 60 the whole way back and a whooping 8mpg, so I gotta leave alittle earlier for brooksville than I planned.

I will do an inventory tomorrow when it is light out. What should be there? I saw the generator while shoving the door back into it on the side of 275.

As for the door, I was able to save it and, its not messed up at all. I put it back togather with some random screws I had laying around in my garage. So it may need a better fix at some point, but its good for now. I'll pick up a new hasp for the lock at lowes at some point too so the door will stay closed.

Above and beyond, man, you ROCK!

What should be in there, um, to steal Jeff's phrase, "autocrossy" stuff. :D

The radios are probably the most important - I don't think we've kept any electronics in there. Bullhorn?

Extension cords ( in the box in front, I believe). Helmets? Vests, flags - all the safety stuff.

Fire extinguishers. Water/soda.

None of this is worth stealing, but who knows?

Our SUV hauls!

I am a bit suspect of the bearings on one of the wheels. Can't remember which one; I think it was on the right. It needs to be checked and might need repacking.

Wow, that would explain why I used ~ 1/8th tank of gas just towing it from where it lives to SPJC with my wagon.

What were you towing it with?

I was towing it with an '07 Frontier Pickup.

I think my poor mileage is mostly due to the awesome aerodynamics of that brick on wheels, I mean trailer. My owners manual says the limit on frontal area is 60 sqft and thats about what the trailer is.

I'm going to try to stop at a set of scales on the way home from b-ville to get a weight

EDIT: the time board was kind of on top of the pile in the trailer so if that is where it was left, I'd say most stuff is there. I'll have a full report tonight.

I'm thinking (denial?) that whoever broke it open took one look inside at all that "Junk" piled in there and said, "forget it..."

Thanks a bunch, Ryan.

========================================

Are you seriously all the way down in Venice?

I was going to try to arrange to visit the trailer and fog-bomb it with the window open, but uhhh... I won't be going to Venice for that :)

heh, yea its in venice.

I bought a new hasp so the door can be secured. I dont have any locks tho, so if someone can bring one to the event that'd be good.

I'll see if i have anything to bomb the trailer with.

PS: Anyone working in the trailer, I'd reccomend tucking your pants into your socks.

I'll buy a lock and bring it.

What was the previous one? Master(tm) combination lock? Keyed lock?

This looks like it was a good month for me to NOT pull the trailer!

I won't be available to pull it in June, either. Sorry.

Nice truck, I was lookin at one myself.... 4 cylinder?

I will bring one or two bug bombs with me so we can set it off inside that thing in the morn. I just happen to have some sitting on the shelf here.

Or did you already bomb it Ryan?

Everything squared away with lunch Jeff?

I have the bombs but no "spray" someone will need to bring some of that.
