i don't think I've been to a more relaxed and on time event than this one. Doesn't hurt that there were only 30 or so cars, but the course was one of the faster and fun courses we've had in a while. Plus only running one car at a time didn't slow things down at all, it also made working the course a bit easier with only one car on course. It's nice to have a session "off" to walk around and talk to people, and I had plenty of time to change my spark plugs too. Then getting home by 4 with a couple hours of daylight is always a good thing. We have it pretty good here in Florida having great weather in January.

Thanks to all that pitched in and helped clean up, see you all in a couple weeks !

Running one car at a time slowed things down A LOT. It was the fact that only 29 drivers competed that kept us on schedule while still allowing for 8 runs!

But, it was a great day! I really enjoyed the course. It was simple and fun, fast, but not crazy fast.

When is somebody gonna post the results???

Geez, you're so technical. One car at a time may have slowed things down, but it didn't affect the schedule is what I meant. We still got 8 solid runs, if we were able to run 2 cars then we might have gotten 9 or 10 runs ?

30-second start interval vs 45-secon start interval = 1.5x as many runs are possible. We could have probably done 11-12 runs if we wanted to. Or just been done even sooner.

As it was, I was just happy to not be concerned about people ending up in the dirt. It worked out well!

Just found out the 1 run I really wanted to see ( my 42.088 + 1 cone ) didn't get recorded. I ran lower tire pressure in the rear and it really seemed to help my car rotate more predictably. I really wish I didn't cone that 42.088 it was a good run. I just got a little lazy. Still, I didn't think I would make 42 anything so a 42.9 clean is good enough for me.

Philip that was a very smooth looking run.

I think I need to ride along with you in a future event so you can give me some pointers ! That way I won't "blame you" for my bad driving like I did today.

Thanks for posting the pics too! I found out that all my brake lights are working, and I was closer to the cones than I thought I was.

Thanks for the pics Philip! Really fun course today! I wish Scooby Doo and the gang was there so they could figure out who called that mystery cone on my 41.8 run. Ha, it was the course worker at station 4 the whole time. Knocking down cones and calling them on unsuspecting auto crossers all day! I'd give that dog a lifetime supply of Scooby snacks for that!

After watching the video, I think you could have been in the 41's. You were behind in a few areas that were causing you to brake and then speed back up versus maintaining speed throughout. In slow cars like ours maintaining speed is critical. I'll send you a pm with time marks in the video for reference so you can see what I mean.

I... well the car, could definitely have gone 41s but if I recall on my 42.0 I was about out of grip and I don't remember getting late on that run. Stability is really a problem in my car so I find I can't use the "tightest" line sometimes without the car getting snap under or oversteer regardless of entry speed thanks to the shocks not liking transitions.

Quick thought for you:
You fell for a a "trap" on this course. You drove the turn-around as two distinct turns (it was coned to look that way), which caused you to drive the exit much tighter than required. The proper line was to set up a little bit before the initial entry (get as far left as you can easily get), clip the apex and then track out PAST the wall of cones a bit... holding that initial arc all the way through the apex of the second turn. The whole turn-around was one constant radius arc. If you got it right, the exit was absolute cake and it set you up for a really fast entry into that slalom. Watch Phillip's videos. He was driving that part well.

I saw what you meant. I have a consistency problem. there are some runs were I had it right but then blew it some where else, and other were I did just what you describe. right now I'm fighting with the car and I need to stop doing that.

Chris you did have the "better time" than me, and I'll accept that, but I doubt you were called for a "mystery cone", with one car out on the course at a time, I'm sure you hit a cone, so just let it go.

I know that . I only refer to it as the mystery cone because I have no clue where I hit it!
