No need for fender-rolling... and the power I think messes me up more times than helps since I'm not driving the best line.

So this was my best run... 28.458... This was my first tight course autox the few others were in brooksville and really open. And this was only my 3rd time driving the car at autox so I am still learning it some.

I've been told that my lines sucked and that I could have been faster. lol. Owell there's always next time.

Actually, I always enjoy SPC....even when I had the camaro. I imagine that mustang will be a blast on a tight, slippery surface.

Bruce, I didn't think your lines were that bad. You were 2 feet off of the first two apexes, being tighter might have put you on a better entry to the first right turn and got you on a more comfortable line through the zig-zag into the straight. You didn't get on the gas until after the zag... there's probably half a second just by getting on the gas earlier there.

The only place you really challenged the tires was in the sweeper. Means you could have gone faster through every other turn.

Your slalom entry didn't look right... but you stayed ahead of the slalom and flowed with it, so I guess it was okay.

I'm with Jesse, though. That wasn't a tight course. The first two turns were tight-ish, the rest of the course was anything but tight.

Anyone get any pics of my car? Diane did, but they weren't really dynamic enough to figure out how it was handling. Thanks

My inexperience really shows when trying to read a course; I wish we could get a day long school here on the model of Evolution. Could FAST host/organize such a thing?

That's what Steve and Loren call "staying for FN" only in the afternoon = +$32.50 please 4-6 more runs and use the instructors all you want.

We've tossed around the idea of doing an "advanced" school. But, as Doug alluded to... every FAST event is sort of a school in itself.

Steve and I have some irons in the fire, though. Stay tuned.

AND people who have won FAST tee shirts (let alone 1st) are no longer considered "newbies". They are considered a "target" forever. Consider yourself "marked".

Sign up for the afternoon session sometime. If I'm doing the novice walk, we talk about reading the course...this time around, we talked about looking at the slalom entry just as you describe it. 10-15 minutes instead of a whole day, but the price is better.

I missed my normal course walk with Bob T as I was with my wife that morning. Bob and I usually walk the course together, I tell him what I see and then he corrects me. I need to make sure I get a least one "instructor" walk in each morning to maximize my chances of finding the line.

I like the idea a signing up for afternoon sessions as a learning session, or maybe "learn" in the morning and "race" in the afternoon. That might not go over well with the rest of S2.

I knew a 27 second run was needed to take S2 that morning after watching the first run group; I felt time slipping away from me on course, especially at the beginning and end. But I couldn't figure what to do about it but try to push harder which ended up hurting more than helping.

It's the classic "push harder, suck less" Joe! You were trying to push harder where you needed to suck less.

And you're welcome to "learn" in the morning and "compete" in the afternoon as long as you're not driving in the morning. You can come walk the course, ride with people, talk about it, walk the course again, etc.

As much as it pains me to say this, there are other auto-x club's that offer 'evolution type' classes. GCAC in Ft. Myers offers one and it's coming up on the 27th and 28th. It is almost $600, probably more by the time you factor in travel, etc. The deadline to entry has passed, but they do it a few times a year.

That being said, I would say go the option of signing up for both sessions. This is only $32 an event, and you could get the same value with almost a years worth of double sessions. That's 10 events worth of coaching!!

You can find a lot of the evolution classes on youtube. I've watched them and try to put them into practice.

We are fortunate to have some really good instructors available and you will find they are consisted with what the pro's teach. I'd say utilize them as much as possible, especially since they will be driving the same course that day!

This was my first event! and I had a wonderful time! Unfortunately I cant make the November event and I'm to new for the duel in December. When is the 2014 schedule going to be posted? I'm hoping to make the January event if it doesn't compete with our statewide picnic. Once I know when it is I can start to work on others in my club to get more of us there.
