^^ Yes, there should be enough walk-on registration spots available - 51 prereg'd, and the cap was 65.
Reg. will shut down at 9, though, so make sure you are there before that!

Yup me too, I forgot to pre register. It's been a bit harder to come by $30 these days, but I'll be there, even if I have to bring rolls of coins. Yellow_Colorz_PDT_01

So which is it...forgot, or short of cash? (Understand you're going to take a bullet for several people...thank you for being out on point....) Several people who found time to request a special work assignment
couldn't find time to pre-register...the problem's getting chronic , and it makes for extra time to work out run groups and work assignments prior to the event -- I have to go back and figure out who's going to be there but isn't in the database -- and to adjust things the morning of the event. That's especially true at SPC when we're dealing with distributing walk-ons across the groups. We make no advance assumptions on who's going to be at any particular event or who's going to do what job. If you have time to post a note to the event chair requesting a "special", you have time to pre-register...if time is at such a premium that the extra keystrokes are a burden, put a note requesting a work assignment in your entry, and I or Steve will pass it over to the event chair.
On the flip side...if you can't pre-register before the deadline because you're short of cash, shoot me or Steve a note, and we can let you use the "credit" option for registration. You still have to have the cash when you show up, of course, and we ask you be reasonably sure you're going to make it, especially for Brooksville events. I do ask that you shoot one of us a note before you use this option.
So...problems solved for the season?

I apoligize for not preregistering. I happened to come back to the site the day the preregistation ended. I'll do my best not to let it happen again. I will be there for sure though

Not to kick a dead horse, and at no one in particular, but pre-registering also helps us to know how much lunch to order.

Yes, we've done this before...but only with notice.

You weren't in the above rant, Ron...you hadn't signed up for a pre- or post-event job.

I also missed the pre-registration because I wasn't sure I would be able to make it. I'll be there though.
+1 walk on

If you don't pre-register than you don't get one of the non-cone chasing jobs IMO. I wouldn't even expect one if I didn't pre-register for an event, not that I have been going to events lately anyways.

How about
both? I understand about "being on point" and I understand that your post was for a wide range of people, but I really didn't need to read your,
" So which is it...forgot, or short of cash?"comment right now.
I'm really struggling, got laid off this year and my part time work has been really really cut back the last two months, then add a 5 day hospital stay with no insurance to the mix; so by time I got some cash together, I had a day or two left to register and I forgot, lots going on in my life right now that's
lots more important than autocross.
I forgot how much of a hassle it is for you to make up the run/work assignments, and I didn't even think about lunch, so in the future I'll make sure to shoot you a e-mail if I miss registration.

Hi everyone,
I just moved from TX last month and had no clue about when where and who organizes these autocrosses and just saw this last night at s2ki tampa forum, I would like to be a part of it but my car is with dealer still since I ran into issues the day I got here
If I get my car back I will be there in the morning hoping that I can participate in my first autocross here in Tampa.
A little about me, I have been autocrossing for almost a year now, I sucked at it when I started, not too good still either, but attended almost 15 autocrosses to be where I am at. Learnt a lot from the autocrosses, would love to share if anyone is interested. I do not have my tires since I left my autocross/track set in Dallas but I am dying to autocross at this point and I don't care if I finish my not so stick sumitomos
Edit: If I can't run, I would still like to come check it out and would get all the info so I can pre-register for the next event.
Thank you.

I may be at the event, if I am, and you want someone to ride with you, I'll ride along and try to help you out. I used to be fast when I had my S

Jeremy is also extremely fast so if he's there ride with him!
I currently don't have a autocross friendly car (need tires for one, and fix the suspension issues on the other) so the best I can do is ride with people if I do show up.
In addition to FAST, there are always SCCA autocrosses as well as Gulf Coast (probably a fairly long drive for you), BMWCCA, PCA, etc..
For track stuff there are a lot of options, Chin, SAFE, PBOC (only if you have a roll bar though), PCA, etc..

I got it...reality bites. Which is why the part you didn't quote offered up a solution to help with getting you registered...and if you register at the same time you volunteer for a pre-event job, you won't forget. Or, simply register when you can and work a regular assignment on the course that day. What I'm looking to change is the habit
quite a number of people have gotten into in jumping to volunteer for a job that keeps them off the course during the day, then leaving us guessing later. For some (none of them named Brian Kollar), it's becoming a habit...and that especially chafes my shorts on days when the sun's not only below the horizon when I leave the house, but when I return as well.
Sorry about the hospital stay. Keep the solutions offered up in mind -- FAST is also flexible.
Edit -- I think I have an even better solution...for the October event, I'll put a couple of optional fields into the entry form allowing everyone to put in a couple of bids for work assignments. We'll populate the list in the event thread from that so everyone can see it. First registered, first served, and no guessing after registration closes.

Who are the people that are volunteering and then not showing up? And why does it make a difference if those people pre-reg'd or walked-on. Either way they flaked.

Cool...lots of activity out there. The year I spent stationed in West Middle-of-Nowhere, I got out to Mineral Wells for an event...that was a great site!
If I can't run, I would still like to come check it out and would get all the info so I can pre-register for the next event.
By all means. Get there before 9 if you can run.
Events are posted on the FAST website --
http://www.wedrivefast.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, and there's normally a link to both the event thread here . We use
http://www.myautoevents.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for pre-registration, which opens up exactly a month before the event, and closes about nine or ten days prior to the event, so pre-registration for the 17-18 October event in Brooksville will open 17 September and will close 8 October. While pre-registration is optional (although advised) for SPC events, it's mandatory for Brooksville -- the event site is an active airfield, and airfield security requires us to submit an access roster a week in advance. Other clubs using that site have to do the same.

Jamie, I understand what you're saying; I know that figuring out the run/work group on a picnic table or in the trailer while you have people asking you, "
IAm I running 1st or working second?" while you're trying to figure it all all out, is a bitch/ PITA.
I have no solution to offer other than what you have suggested, in fact I'm all for what you have said (and Dave said). If someone wants a certain work assignment, then they should pre-register before requesting that work assingment, it only seems fair, and it makes your job easier.
I like the idea if someone has some sort of finacial problems, and they can't pre-register for a event, to e-mail you or Steve, so they can get a "credit" and pay at the day of the event. Obviously, this will be a touchy area when it comes to Brooksville event, so we may need to discuss this idea.
Hopefully this puts this discussion to a rest, and I'm looking forward to this Saturday!!

I will be a no-show.
Although I already registered and paid I decided (without spousal input) that, after 3 months seperation, that I would rather spend the day with my wife than with all y'all. Willemina finally came back to Florida on Wednesday after spending the summer running our B&B in Canada. Yellow_Colorz_PDT_06
Free up my slot and please hold the fee for a future event. Thanks!

SPC has gone so far as to be explicit in disallowing car washing, oil changes, etc. They don't want their lot messed - so whatever work you may get, please leave no evidence. 8)

I encourage anyone who wants to get there early to please help out with course setup. I am usually there early for it for each event, but I will not be able to get there until late morning or noonish. I already let Jamie know so he can make any adjustments necessary
Track Tim down when you get there, he'll have everything under control.
