Getting beat by a Yaris makes me have bad dreams...
and solidly at that
Course was fun, setup more open than last time we ran it I think? It was fun to slide around
thumbs up on "open-ness" - big heavy cars (and their drivers) have more fun at SPC when they aren't sqeezing between cones at 2mph.

PLUS giving some room to drive really separates the men from the boys... see above
props to the newbies (EVO & MS6) who were shaving seconds off their times, and found their way into the top 25!

Ahhh! My bad.
So it was double-teched. (Is that even a word? Verbalizing a noun. Oops, did it again.)

Excellent video!
My apologies to the 42 drivers that were slower than a Yaris.
If only I'd been smart enough to NOT fill the car up a few days before an autocross... maybe I'd have gotten down to 41 seconds. Removing the spare tire and crap from the back of the car (which I did before my last run) was apparently worth 2 tenths. With that long straight and a couple places after that I was really sluggish accelerating out of, carrying 60 pounds less fuel probably would have been another 2-3 tenths.
I guess I need to make up my mind whether or not I want to be "casual" or "serious", huh?

The only two times I've had the spare tire and crap out of the S2000 was to install the stereo in the car, and then to remove the stereo from the car. I didn't take the crap out of the Miata I drove sunday either.
So I guess I fall more into the very "casual" group, I rarely even check tire pressures, and certainly don't adjust unless the car is really misbehaving.

Same here. I haven't checked tire pressures or shock settings since the last autocross. Once I find something that works "well enough", I leave it alone. Most handling problems can be solved by adjusting the driver.
As for taking the spare and stuff out of the car, I'm just lazy.

I've only had a few runs with the FAST group because schedule conflicts usually prohibited my participation. With the new season starting up so soon, I may try to compete in the points series for the season. Looking forward to Lakeland. (and the associated Muddy design)
Very fun event guys, thank you.

P.S. My appologies to the cone shaggers that had to work my run group.

And I left everything in the S2000 this Sunday and turned in the best times I've ever run. Gee, do you think I'd have gone faster if I'd emptied the trunk?

Excellent video! What NLE are you using? Some good use of FX in post.
Don't think the brides I shoot would like their wedding to look like that, though.

sweet video. You should bring a skateboard next time when you do a sweeping shot of the grid and have someone push you.

You mean "set up a dolly" and "hire a grip", right? Sounds so much more professional that way.

That was a pretty good video. Nice flow to it. Only thing I didn't care for was speeding up some of the shots, but I know that autocross can look pretty darn slow on video and it's also useful for time and keeping the flow going. It's just an oddball purists' point of view, and there are enough raw in-car and sideline vids of autocrosses to make even the biggest auto-x nerd's eyes bleed. This kind of video has a much wider layman appeal.
One thing that's nice about SPC is that a lot of those shots didn't need to be sped up to look fast on camera. Having the backdrop of the walls and trees really adds to the visual perception of speed, not like runway vids where a 60 MPH slalom run can look slow.

thanks man, yeah we had to speed up a few shots to keep up with the flow of the music. I must say that I do love Final Cut Pro

snookwheel: "The Corvette really put on a show." I've been told that sideways is not the quickest way around the course...but it does get lots of smiles!
Great fun. Now I need to find another .5 to keep up with the single seaters...more power!
I do want to say 'Mike', the Chair went over and above to make the event happen. Kudos to him.
