Put me down for instructor.
Couple suggestions I have... have more instructors this time. Last time it was impossible to keep up, even running between cars as fast as I could, I felt that we weren't doing enough for our group.
Also I didn't like running from the back of the grid to the front of the grid to get in a new car after every run. Maybe set it up this year so the same student does like 3 or 4 runs in a row, to save time and energy during instructor change outs.
Email (?) out a copy of Andy Hollis's top ten auto-x tips to the students before the school. Give them something to think about in advance. I hardly ever get asked any questions during novice walkthroughs even after asking for questions several times. Seems like people aren't thinking or it's too much information for one day.

Also, what was the resolution for last years finish line issue? Split up the groups this time, so not every car is in grid at once?

Jeremy, I think you're right, it IS a lot of information to take in. Andy's tips are probably WAY too much to present before the school. But, I'll see if I can come up with some basic stuff to email out... more as "reassurance" than anything else.
The finish issue. See, that's why we're having the meeting. Make some notes, we'll discuss there and see what we come up with.
We're going to try to have 3 instructors per group, but that means a dozen instructors... which is a LOT to come up with. Hit up your experienced friends and ask them to volunteer!
Doing multiple runs with a student isn't a bad idea (sometimes), and I'll leave that to each group of instructors to decide. As long as you know what you're doing and do it safely, I don't care how you work that. You're working with the same group of instructors and students throughout the day, so that's something that you can hone to your liking and the needs of your students.
I'd like to have most of this discussion at our meeting, but if we want to continue it here, it might be good to split it out into a separate topic. This one should be more to gather volunteers and provide info to students. Instructor talk is a little beyond the scope of this topic.

My step-son would like to attend the school again this year, he completed the 2010 school and only one auto-x race since. Is there any restriction for previous grads?

I wouldn't have a problem with that. As long as he understands that it's EXACTLY the same course and doesn't think he'll get bored with it.

I see my name is on the worker list and I wish it could happen, but my day job that provides my gas & tire money requires me to stay in Sarasota all day both days. Yellow_Colorz_PDT_32 Yellow_Colorz_PDT_32 Yellow_Colorz_PDT_32

I need to know who of the instructors and worker volunteers is not planning to enter the autocross the next day. I'm going to load everyone else onto the entry list before opening up the March event in a couple of weeks.

After doing the Skip Baber class this weekend it made me realize how good the Fast class was last year. The Skip Barber class was fun but it did not teach the skills you will get from the fast class. Do the class and you will be a better drive.

Lots of RWD cars signing up
Most of which I think I've driven at least once or twice (or more) in autocross.
Should be interesting seeing a Lightning in the accel/braking/tight turn segment..

I've seen them run a few times in the past. It's funny if you are working as a starter, you turn around to see the next car coming up to the line and you have to look upwards at the driver since he is sitting higher than you.

Oh oh, I'll instruct his group. I'd still love to take my truck around a course at SPC sometime. Tow the trailer and then take a lap around the track...who wouldn't want that kind of fun right? XXLvette, you know what I mean....

We had a couple of trucks that ran regularly when I was further north...Lightning vs Typhoon every month! And I knew a guy in Reno who ran a C Street Prepared Toyota pickup.

All the volunteers Loren has listed at the front of this thread are registered for the 13 March autocross, except Eric. All are using an event credit. I loaded them using info from older entries -- if you're anticipating driving a different car, you should be able to edit your event information. If you have problems editing information, contact me. If you volunteered to work and aren't listed at the front of this thread, contact Loren.
General pre-registration for the 13th opens up next Sunday, 13 February.

All can use event credit only if they show up and work on the 12th. If not they can plan to pay onsite on the 13th. Just sayin'...
