I could get used to having that much grip... but it almost seems too easy!
Glad you enjoyed it.... but didja have to smoke my time??
I watched Pulp Fiction again the other night, and I'm reminded of the scene where Bruce Willis says "Sorry baby, I had to crash that Honda".

Sorry dude, I had to smoke your time. 8)

Just by a little, though.

rcroft wrote:Anyone have a good recommendation for a rain tire?
The V700 (also Victoracers) have some tread, but are for auto-x/track like the 710's. Tire Rack says "For damp conditions where standing water is not present and water evacuation is not required, shaved or worn V700 tires can be used. Standing water should be avoided whenever possible and V700 tires with nearly new tread depths should be used if any standing water is present." Sounds about what you're looking for.

And Loren, sorry I didn't see your message. I didn't get home until 5am this morning so I did the results this afternoon. I had mentioned to somebody that I was going to copy you if I got them done yesterday, if that makes you feel better. :)

I used a set of Victoracers on the street for a while. I found that in the absence of puddles, they gripped as well on a wet road as a typical summer street tire gripped in the dry. Good stuff!

But, if money is no object, and these are strictly for use on an autocross course in the rain... Hoosier makes a rain tire that very likely blows everything else away.

My best real finish ever, the last time I placed 3rd there was only three cars running in my class. :) I owe a thank you to Steve and Dave for not being able to attend. :D

Hey actually a small correction is due in the results in class G

Shows Brian Kollar in 3rd with 50.681 and Jack Neely in 4th with 50.902, But Jack's fastest run was actually his 5th run with 49.347+1. unless my math is fuzzy that puts him in 3rd with 50.347 being faster than his or Brian's fastest runs that are listed?

Cones count for 2 seconds each, bro.

Guess I was confused by the +1 then ...... never paid much attention to them before

Hey Kenny - I think I figured out why the timers had me down for 7 runs, when I only did 6.....

Notice that the 'vette only has 5 runs showing in the results, and was "off" each run 'cept his last??? And notice the mysterious "off" with the 48.653 assigned to me???

That was his (Tim's) time. I did a 52, a 61, another 61, and stopped for the rain. When play resumed, I did a 49, the 50+1, and the 46+1.

Tim was off on every run, and I was asked to ride with him to help him out on that last run..... Which he kicked butt on I might add!

Anyway, that explains why timing was telling me that the computer indicated that I took seven runs.

Thanks for fixing it on site though - you are the man - Now get yer damn car running!

That actually makes sense. He was 96 and you were 66. Probably a typo on my part. Sorry about that.

On a related note. Doing timing with the touchpad and tap to click turned on was not good. I would suggest bringing an external mouse, or at the very least turn tap to click off. I usually prefer to use those input methods, but when you are doing timing and trying to be fast and accurate those aren't the best methods.

Also, maybe consider a headset for the timing person. Sometimes it was hard to hear, especially when cars without mufflers are launching 10 ft. away from you.

(From 20 minutes south of the airport...) It started raining here about 10, and didn't let up much all day -- just alternated between drizzle and downpour. We picked the right rainy day....

Great course, Jamie!

I had more fun when it was wet - very drivable, challenging, and fun (unlike tight wet courses at SPC  )

Logistics were also great in spite of the weather 8)

I had meant to bring an external mouse, but forgot to load it into the car the night before. As usual, I remembered as I was getting off the Parkway in Spring Hill. Turning tap-to-click off would help, but having the desk space we do now, an external mouse is the way to go.

Ron, I'll take a look at it when I get home tonight.

Hey Kenny or whoever has access to it, can you please change the car I was driving in Class E, position #10 on the results list? I was driving my 2005 Scion xB, not my 1985 Toyota MR2.
Thanks.

I got all the way home to sarasota, with just a few small "scares"...

I got to the offramp, got all the way to the bottom of it doing 25mph, and then as I was merging onto University, God's Mighty hand came down, and flicked the rear end of my car.

It just spun for absolutely no reason. I was barely accelerating and was up to about 35 from 25, and then "whee!" I went across the three lanes of traffic, and then back across without hitting anyone/thing (luckily it was dead, and I made sure to slow down to a nice open spot in traffic.)

I KNOW the "chek pants" light came on after that one.

Had a great time at Brooksville guys, and what a cool course, just wish I had the grip to drive the crap out of it ;)

Agreed to all the comments previously-great event. Can't recall having an event 1) go off on time and 2) get lunch for the price of admission of the events I've been to (4 other clubs). Good deal!

RC: thanks for the tutorship. I could swear I hadn't done anything different, but after reviewing my in car video...plain as day-in the rain with no tracks I elected to go left around a cone rather than proper right...except the last run.

Agent: Great pics! Course that means there is evidence of how far off the racing line I was!

Much appreciated the welcome atmosphere. I've got July down on the calender...that gives me a bit more time for some more upgrades...

Good thing you came up to timing when you did, otherwise you wouldn't have had any clean runs. We were announcing it, but I think we forgot to point one of the speakers toward the finish line so that the driver can hear cone counts, off course, class placement, insults, etc.

Couldn't find the damned speaker cables, so there was only one (very short) speaker cable hooked up to one speaker.

I kinda miss all the little shelves and cubbies we had in the old trailer where we could stuff things like PA cables and things.

If my math is correct, looks like only 1 point separating Drew and Kenny for 1st place in D :!:
