What? No post-event chatter yet? Slackers!

This one went without a hitch. Well, Ron was fighting with the timing computer in the last run group. But nothing that you'd really notice. We got in 8 runs and were packed and gone by 2:15 without trying too hard.

Thanks to Dan Dejon for letting me get an FTD in his Mitsubishi. Good job on the setup, sir! :thumbwink:

Thanks for the advice and butt whooping in my own car :blackeye: . Glad to see I can still do a lot for myself to get a better time. Next time you get a 1 second handicap, should make things more fair imo for the rest of us

With the Miata out of commission with a fubar'ed clutch, and the Crustang still unrepaired, I brought the Missusstang today, figuring I would at least throw it around for a couple of runs. Matt Sullivan and Dave Williams were gracious enough to offer rides in their cars(thanks again, guys!), so I ended up taking a few runs in each. 3 each in Matt's and Dave's cars got nearly identical times. Just a tenth slower in Dave's car. Both equally capable, but different. Then came 2 runs in the Mustn'tstang. It's most endearing quality is that is has wonderfully ice cold air. And it's top goes down. It has the crappiest V8 ever made, but at least it gets terrible gas mileage. It lumbered it's way around the course in a thoroughly average 30.6.
I crushed that truck. And, by crushed, I mean barely beat.

Dan, if you look at the results, you'll notice something that might make you feel better. I had exactly one "magical" run. Had I not gotten lucky on that one run, I'd have been at 27.2xx, right about a tenth faster than you. Had I not gotten lucky on my 7th run, none of us would have had any idea that the car was capable of that.

And here's the kicker... I know that if you put the RIGHT driver in that car, they would have gone at least a second faster than I did. I was still playing it conservative in a lot of places. We're not even close to the potential of the car!

Keep hacking away at it, you'll keep getting closer.

haha I feel fine with my time, happy with it. If I didn't get exactly one "magical" run either I would've been left in the dust. Was running 27.9's all day until the last run. I can't see someone getting another whole second on your time but then again I wasn't expecting a 26.5 to happen either  . Fun course, especially for tech drive. A lot slippery than the airport but at least there was a nice little bank after the gates.

Three things:
1. Look at how many times I braked early. (pretty much every significant braking point because I'm not in tune with your car and I never really know exactly how fast I'm going)
2. Notice that I'm not sliding the car around at all. A really talented driver who knows how to drive AWD would have been a lot looser.
3. While I was "on" in a lot of places, there were some places where my line could have been tighter. (watch Jamie's video when he posts it... holy crap, he had a tight line!)

Yes, there is no doubt. I left at least a second on the table. (but... so did everyone else!)

Well, that was fun! In no small part thanks to Travis and his giving me a chance to thrash his Camaro again! Thanks, man! Hope the tips I offered were helpful. :)

And thanks to everyone else for making it happen. You guys/gals rock!

My middle/inner front tires got chewed up. Too much camber? The outers wore a lot less.

Could be, also could be tire pressure too high or toe out, or a combination.

What toe angle are you running? Toe is usually the culprit there.

It was Loren, blame Loren. He owes you a new set of tires. :rolling:

On that short rough surface you were lifting the front a lot under acceleration plus pulling around corners. What is your front/back power bias? Your fronts were probably clawing a lot. Rotate/flip tires a lot with high HP AWD driving at speed. Like Joe said. Psi/struts might be on high side for asphalt? Loren didn't seem to have any issues...whoa. :thumbwink:

Pictures! Mostly taken by Mike Dassatti so give him a round of applause!

I could have found a bit more time but the old tires didn't have the grip I wanted. Big thanks to Jamie for letting me run his car for a lap.

My psi when I got to the event, I set them up at 40 psi. I didn't adjust them at all. After all the runs were done, I checked the psi and they were at 44 hot. My toe was 0.5mm but I adjusted the camber slightly (probably added a 0.5 negative camber) so the toe did change very very slighty. I'll have to check with my plates later. Also the front and back power ratio is 50/50. I myself was clawing out a couple of places and did have a nice chunk of understeer from going in too fast on the turn around before the back end straight because I didn't brake enough. I do change the tires every event and I think I needed to rotate them after Lorens runs  .
