Sorry I had to leave early. Just got home in time to tape up the windshield and keep her dry. Had a great time as always. Only got to shoot the first run group, but here's what I got. http://gwatdesigns.com/picture_library/FAST-100328/

At first I thought this event should have been called "A River Runs Through It", but after wading through the water feature that is sometimes called "the skid pad" I'm thinking this one should be named "On Golden Pond"!

Despite the weather I had a great time. No, I'm not just saying that because I was in a run group before the rain hit.

Nick and Dan: a well run event, with a comedy routine for the drivers meeting.

Felt good to get back out to a autocross after a long hiatus, but I think I'm now a offical member of the "Push Less, Suck Harder" club :? Anyhow if I make it out to Brooksville I'm going to be looking for some coaching (Loren, Steve, Chris, Adam, Drew......)

Not sure if it was not driving for a few months, the rain, or a new shock set up; but I really was missing my marks out there today.

I'll say it was none of the above and just admit it was the driver plain and simple.

The weather was a factor today, even for the dry run groups, because we were chasing the rain. Though we had about 70 drivers today, I know if it was sunny and clear we would've seen more than 5 runs per group. I really felt bad for the last run group, especailly the course workers (props to you guys!!) ; rain in this sport really makes for a miserable time no matter what you're doing.

My last 2¢ : It was a fun course, but just a bit to short IMO, a slalom or a crossover anywhere in there might have been nice to stretch it out a bit.

The last run group was completely wet from start to finish. It was bad news. We even had to bring everybody in for lightning at one point.

I spun on 3 out of 5 runs, coned my best run (30.1) and my only "good" clean run was my last run where it was raining so hard I could barely see the cones. Mass quantities of rain + RWD + worn tires = much frustration!

Spinning Chuck's RX-8 at least 4 times was entertaining, though!

How hard did it rain? Somehow "river" seems like an understatement.
We've sure had our share of rain this year, but it's still fun. Peeling off the wet socks is the best!

Dan, Nick, it was great to see you guys out again, and y'all did a good job keeping a very full event moving smoothly. 72 drivers is a record, I think, and many of them were novices, which is great to see. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves, in spite of the rain!

Charles and Loren, thanks for getting the results up so quickly. Nice job to Stephen Mester - got me by 1/100th - I musta blinked at the wrong time... RJ - you posted some very consistent times, there - Good Job. keep practicing!

Eric - thanks for posting the pix!

edit:
Jeremy - thanks for posting that video -
RJ - watch Jeremy's video - see where he shifted into second...

I just want you to know that I pretty much hate you. I hate you so much. Not only do I hate the fact that you are so much faster than me, but I also hate you for running in the dry.

Just heard about a white and blue 350z banged up on the interstate:

Eva and Doug - please let us know that wasn't you, or update us if it was. Thanks!

Joe- No problem.

Also, huge thanks to the course workers for run group 4.

I almost got slammed into on the way home. A silver mercedes c230 hatchback came from the right lane all the way over to the left lane sliding out of control. I was in the left lane and hit the gas and he barely missed my rear bumper as he slammed into the concrete wall going about 50. It was nuts.

I saw the 350 your speaking of. I don't think it was Doug and Eva. I only saw one person in the car. The 350 rear ended a corolla.

I saw 5 accidents on my way home. 1 of which I was almost involved in.
